About the Artist

Hi there!

My name is Katarina, but you can call me Kat :)

I’m a 24 year old self-taught artist of many mediums. Ceramics was my first love in the creative world, I could always paint averagely but it wasn’t until I could create something functional with art that I really loved it. Nowadays, I practice everything from metalsmithing to embroidery to photography to digital art. I'm currently based in Maine, but I hope to travel the world as a creative soon!

Since as long as I can remember jewelry has always held a special place in my heart. When I was 2 I begged my mom to get my ears pierced (so I could borrow earrings from my Mommom).

Some of my fondest memories include rummaging through my Mommom’s countless jewelry boxes & her telling each story behind each piece. Some were gifts, some she got during a special occasion, every piece had a story. That’s why it meant so much to me whenever she let me borrow a piece.

As I got older, I’d get a new piercing for every birthday so that I could wear even more jewelry. It wasn’t until I turned 22 that I learned about the art of metalsmithing.

I thought “how have you not been doing this the whole time?”. It felt as if something had been in front of my eyes my whole life & I couldn’t see it until that moment.

The fine details, the endless techniques, the stages of design. I immediately fell in love & for the first time in a long time I felt like I had found myself.

For the first year, I gradually taught myself wire wrapping before finally building up the courage to take a metalsmithing workshop. After that I knew this was going to become my life.

When I’m not tucked away at my home workbench, I’m either fighting my cat over workbench chair, working at a full-service jewelry store, at the library strolling the art section, or hiking a random mountain.

Featured below is a collage of some of my favorite pieces I’ve crafted over the years that have a deep place in my heart.
